The Re Alberto 1° refuge is located 2621 metres up, in the heart of the Rosengarten mountains, on the border between the Fassa Valley and the South Tyrol. The basin is called "Gartl" and is surrounded by huge bastions including the King Laurin Crag, the north wall of the Rosengarten peak and the towering spires of the famous Vajolet Towers.
From the refuge, it seems you can almost touch the Delago, Stabeler and Winkler towers – each named after their first climbers. Admiring the spires of "King Laurin’s Garden" is an unforgettable sight that will leave an everlasting impression in your heart. Take the word of those who still look at them with wonder after many years.
The refuge was first built in 1929 and has been renovated several times. We offer a warm and friendly home to mountaineers, hikers, photographers, and mountain enthusiasts from all over the world with the same common goal: enjoying moments of peace while watching breath-taking sunrises and sunsets.
This is a true alpine refuge: a meeting point, a shelter in bad weather and a place to share a good meal with friends – offering traditional local homemade cuisine. A refreshing drink, hot food and a good glass of wine among cheerful hospitality, with some passionate stories of mountain life, will make your experience at high altitude unforgettable.
